JAMMU: Security forces today foiled an infiltration bid on the Line of Control in Poonch district.
“A group of suspected militants was seen infiltrating on this side of the border by the BSF and Army in Makhiyari area of Saujiyan belt of Poonch,” official sources here said.
They said a gunfight broke out between suspected militants and the security forces as they challenged reportedly a group of four-five militants.
“The exchange of fire continued for some time,” Sources said, adding that soon after the firing stopped, search operation was launched to apprehend the militants.
“Attempt of infiltration from across the border cannot be ruled out but own troops successfully foiled it,” official added. (AGENCIES)
