JAMMU, Nov 8: Accusing the BJP of bartering the pride and honour of the people of Jammu region for its lust for power, NPP chairman and former minister Harshdev Singh today made a forceful appeal to the public to strengthen Panthers Party which he claimed was the only credible voice of the people of the region.
Addressing two public meetings in Ramnagar constituency today, Singh said that NPP was the only recognized political party from Jammu region as against the other two recognized political pastries of J&K namely NC and PDP which were Kashmir based and predominantly raked up Kashmir centric issues. He said that BJP which lured the people of Jammu region with its seductive slogans during elections inflicted the biggest dent upon Dogra pride by succumbing on almost all Jammu based issues before its Kashmiri masters. Charging the BJP for its betrayal on its professed promises and fundamentals, Singh urged upon the people to oppose, expose and depose the saffron party for its sheer opportunism.
Alleging mis-governance and corruption in the implementation of various State and Central schemes, Harshdev regretted the non- clearance of liabilities of workers and Job card holders under MG-NREGA during the last two years. He expressed concern over the public complaints that MG-NREGA had become defunct in majority of villages with not a single work having been executed during last more than six months due to non availability of grants. He alleged misappropriation of funds by RDD under 14th Finance Commission as the same were being abused by departmental officials.
NPP leader further questioned the pick and choose method adopted by CAPD for grant of gas cylinders and stoves under PMUY without following any reasonable criteria and cautioned to ‘gherao’ concerned authorities in case any rational procedure was not followed for the purpose. He reiterated his demand for review of BPL lists at the earliest so as to rectify the anomalies therein.
