BANIHAL, Nov 2: District president of National Conference (NC) from Ramban, Sajjad Shaheen today expressed concern over defunct utility services and dilapidated condition of roads, especially in hilly areas, saying these have accumulated the problems of common people.
Interacting with people of Khari and Ukharhal, he said that the power and drinking water supply is in disarray while scarcity of food grains at the CAPD depots continues to remain a constant irritant. He said the Government seems to be missing at the ground level as a result of which the people remain at receiving end. He particularly made a reference of Ukharhal, Pogal-Paristan, Neel, Ramsoo, Thachi-Amkote, Khari, Trigam, Mahu-Mangit, Gagarnaag, Sarachi Sumar, Chaka and Sarbagni, saying these areas are facing brunt of acute scarcity of drinking water and power.
Mr Shaheen said that natural water resources in most of the Banihal belt are fast depleting due to construction of railway tunnels and attributed this as one of the factors for drinking water scarcity.
He said since the Government is suffering from political inertia, the administration should realize its responsibility and meet the requirements of the people. He sought regulated and uninterrupted supply of kerosene oil and other essentials to the people, keeping in view the ensuing winter months.
