Srinagar, Nov 1: Militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba including their commander in Bandipora today slipped out of the cordon and security forces have launched massive searches in the forests against them.
Sources said that security forces launched a search operation in village Ajar in Bandipora against a group of LeT militants including their commander Abu Ukasha and his associate Abu Maviya.
The operation was launched by 14 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), SOG Baramulla and 7 Para last night after they were tracking the militant group for last 4-5 days in the area. However, as the army fired a probe shot towards a house in which they had taken shelter, militants responded with UBGL and automatic rifle fire and escaped into nearby forest area.
The group, which infiltrated from Macchil sector, is based in Bandipora for last two months. They infiltrated through Macchil in August and then shifted to Lolab before arriving in Bandipora.
One of the members of this group was recently killed in Argam while another was injured. Security forces have now launched massive operation against the group.
