The State Government has ordered immediate detachment of all the employees from Subordinate Departments and also sought a compliance report in this regard from all the Administrative Departments and HoDs. Attaching employees from Subordinate Departments has almost become a racket in the Secretariat. It is sheer favouritism and nepotism in which functionaries with political clout manage to be at plum posting where numerous facilities and comforts are available to them not as a matter of right but by connivance. In its order, the General Administration Department has directed the Heads of Departments to furnish full detail about the employees who have remained attached to various departments with dates and positions they held. The general impression is that these attachments were not necessarily the demand of efficient administration but were only meant to show endless favour to the blue-eyed boys. There has been deep-seated resentment among the employees on these arbitrary and unnecessary attachments and that has had damaging impact on good governance. Let us hope that with this order the nexus among the vested interest will be broken. The condition is that the order should be implemented in letter and in spirit.
