Govt contemplates to establish Ayush spas in J&K: Bali

JAMMU Oct 28: National Ayurveda Day on the auspicious Dhanwantri Jayanti was celebrated today with zeal and enthusiasm and in this connection functions were organised at different places today.
In this connection a grand function was held at Directorate of ISM here today.
Addressing the function Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat has called for promoting AYUSH in a big way in view of significance and benefits of centuries old Unani and Indian System of Medicines (ISM).
“The Government is laying special thrust on promotion of ISM through a number of innovative measures being launched in this regard”, the Minister asserted.
Bali said that the Ayurvedic System of Medicines is gaining global popularity for its non toxic effects and encouraging results. He said that lord Dhanvantri is the lord and originator of Ayurveda for human welfare who served the people selflessly.
The Minister said that Jammu and Kashmir is thronged by good number of tourists from across the world so the Government is contemplating to establish Ayush Spas at different places across the State.
Earlier, the Minister launched a 15 day awareness programme on Auryeda in the Directorate of ISM besides inaugurating an exhibition in the college.
Giving a resume of activities being taken up under ISM ,the Director General ISM Dr. Kabir Dar apprised the Minister that presently one full fledged hospital and 557 Ayurvedic dispensaries are providing medicare to the people of the state besides two medical colleges and one Ayurvedic and one Unani centres have also been established in the state. He further said the Department is also working on ensuring AYUSH units in GMC Jammu and Srinagar besides all the district hospitals of the State.
Later, the Minister inaugurated Dr. R.L.Sharma auditorium at Jammu Institute of Ayurveda, Kot Bhalwal (Raipur) on the eve of 1st National Ayurved Day.
The Day was also celebrated in the premises of Maharishi Charak Ayurvedic Centre for Rheumatic Diseases where free consultation & medicines to patients of arthritis & allied ailments were provided.
While speaking on the occasion Dr.Virender Mahajan Medical Director of MCA Center complimented the Ministry of AYUSH for adopting Dhanwantri Jayanti as National Ayurveda Day. He said Ministry of AYUSH should chalk out a comprehensive program for prevention of diseases and involve School & colleges in a big way. Ministry should publish Manuals strictly as per seasons.
He further stated that Ministry of AYUSH should take all steps to maintain originality of ancient drugs because everyone across the Globe wants original not modified or amended.
Dr Mahesh Chander Sharma general secretary Indigenous Medicines Organization (IMO) in his address said that people are again turning towards Ayurveda as its drugs are safe. It does not suppress the ailment like modern system it improves the immunity and cures the disease.
Dr. Anil Sharma, Dr. Vinod Sharma, Dr. Pawan Pandita and Dr.Sudarshan also spoke on the occasion.
Prithipal Singh, presented a vote of thanks and function was concluded with distribution of Prasad.
Another function was organized by IMO under the chairmanship of Dr K K Gandotra former Deputy Director ISM in which the large number professionals participated and paid their obeisance to Lord Dhanwantari.
General secretary IMO, Dr Mahesh Sharma general secretary IMO stressed the need to educate the people on the health and hygiene. He said the ISM Department was streamlined during the last 10 years after the present head of the Department took keen interest in it.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Ashok Sharma.
Dr Varinder Sharma and others were also present on the occasion.
Dhanwantri Jayanati was also celebrated at Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission Charitable Ayurveda Hospital Shastri Nagar Jammu.
President Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission Banarsi Dass Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion who inaugurated the function.
General secretary and senior consultant in his address highlighted the achievements of the Hospital.
He also highlighted role by Dabur India Ltd – a pioneer in manufacturing Ayurveda products.
