KC Sports Club registers win in inaugural tie of 5th Eid Diwali Milan Cricket Cup

JAMMU, Oct 28: KC Sports Club registered win over Shastri Cricket Club on average basis in the inaugural tie of the 5th Eid Diwali Milan Cricket Cup, which commenced at Parade Ground, here today.
Batting first, Shastri Cricket Club scored 111 runs in stipulated 20 overs for the loss of seven wickets. Chander made 41 runs, while Varun scored 35 runs.
For KC Sports Club side, Rohan, Abhishant and Karan Bhat captured 2 wickets each.
In the second inning, KC Sports Club made 42 runs in 7 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. The batsmen on crease appealed before the umpire for bad-light which was accepted. The jury after seeing the score book awarded the match in favour of KC Sports Club on average basis.
For SCC side, Surya took 2 wickets for Shastri XI, while Suransh scalped one wicket.
Earlier, the tournament was declared-open by Dr Nirmal Singh, DyCM, who was chief guest in presence of SP City Dr Vinod Kumar, SP Headquarters Jammu Ramesh Kotwal and Joint Secretary, JKCA Jammu Desh Rattan Dubey, who were the guests of honour. Ranjeet Kalra, Member BCCI, Rajesh Gill, former Ranji Player and Organizing Secretary of the event, Saleem-ur-Rehman, Rajesh Dhar and RP Singh were also present on the occasion.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh while speaking exhorted upon the youth to actively participate in sports as helps in enhancing physical and mental health and shaping their overall personality.
Deputy Chief Minister said that Government is taking various steps to upgrade the existing sports infrastructure in the State so that the talented youth will be provided all best possible sports facilities.
Highlighting the special 200 crore package allocated from the Prime Minister’s Development Package for boosting sports infrastructure in the State, Dr Singh said that this will engage youth in constructive sporting activities so that they can compete at national and international platforms.
Deputy Chief Minister further said that this package provides for construction of indoor sporting halls in all districts of the State with a view to provide sports facilities to youth throughout the year. Besides, two stadia in the State capitals of Srinagar and Jammu will be upgraded to the international standards.
While endorsing Swami Vivekanand Ji’s views on the importance of physical fitness, Dr Singh said that “If you have a healthy body, everything becomes a lot easier besides you learn so much from playing in the field”.
The inaugural match was officiated by Madan, Sandeep and Shugul, whereas the proceedings of the inauguration function were conducted by RP Singh and Rajesh Dhar.
In tomorrow fixture, Simula Sports will take on Shehensha Cricket Club.
The tournament in which 12 teams are participating is being jointly organized by Vishal Cricket Club and Simula Sports XI in collaboration with Jammu Police.
The organizing committee includes Hilal Rather, Ranjeet Kalra, Rajesh Dhar, RP Singh, Anand Tripathi, Vivek Sharma, Saleem-ur-Rehman, Vijay Saberwal, Vivek Shekher, Madan Mohan, Sadiq Hussain and Sandeep Manchanda, whereas Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer and Former Ranji Player is the Organizing Secretary of the event.
