Govt ignoring Pak shelling victims: Jan

POONCH, Oct 5:   Provincial Youth National Conference president  and former MLA, Poonch  Ajaz Jan has assailed the callousness of the PDP-BJP Government in ignoring the people living neaer the Line of Control, who suffered immensely due to shelling from Pakistani sode.
Interacting with the affected families of Sawjian and Shahpur in the Poonch district, Mr Jan, who is camping in the affected villages, said that the people are facing numerous problems, especially on account of drinking water supply, power and essentials but nobody from the administration seems to be interested in mitigating their difficulties.
He said the local water supply scheme has completely been damaged by the shelling as a result of which supply to the villages has severely suffered. He said the engineers of the PHE were yet to visit the affected areas to take stock of the damages and take up restoration work.
The former Legislator met the injured and sought free and specialized treatment to them. He also expressed solidarity with those whose properties were burnt in the wake of shelling, which include 27 shops that have completely been gutted.
Meanwhile, NC leader also organised a group of volunteers constituted in Sawjian area which will work during shelling to ensure shifting of people to safer locations and evacuation of any injured person.
” As Govt help is missing, we have no other option than to stand ourself for which volunteers group has been constituted ” Mr Jan said.
