NEW DELHI, Oct 5: New Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, currently on a visit to union capital, today called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh and discussed wide range of issues related to various Centrally supported developmental projects in the State.
Pema Khandu, who has sworn in as the 9th Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh in July this year, also gave an update about the current status of various ongoing DoNER works in Arunachal Pradesh.
While assuring  every possible help from the Centre, Dr Jitendra Singh emphasized to the Chief Minister the need to explore the vast potentials of Arunachal Pradesh which had remained unexplored over the years. He said, the tourism industry and food processing avenues in the State required special attention.
Pointing out to the special priority given to the State by the Modi Government, Dr Jitendra Singh said, it was during the last over two years of the present government that Arunachal Pradesh had emerged on the rail map of India and the work on rail network expansion is going on at fast track. He also impressed upon the Chief Minister to cooperate for expediting the project to set up an airport at Itanagar, which is an urgent need of the hour for promoting connectivity which in turn will promote trade and tourism.
Another pending project that Dr Jitendra Singh referred to is to set up an Film & Television Institute at Arunachal Pradesh which had been announced in the Union Budget soon after the Modi Government took over. He said, once this institute comes up, it will help in exploiting the State’s scenic attributes through both cinema as well as tourism.
Calling for expediting the process of sending DPRs and UCs, Dr Jitendra Singh said, these procedures have already been simplified by the DoNER ministry and the State Government should make the best use of the revised guidelines.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his appreciation of the keen interest taken by Dr Jitendra Singh in his capacity as DoNER Minister and said because of his personal follow-up, there was visible movement in the progress of various projects.
CM Khandu expressed full faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed confidence that under him, Arunachal Pradesh will achieve its deserved place of glory.
