Delegation meets JMC Commissioner, projects demands

JAMMU, Sept 20: A combined delegation of Civic Safai Karamchari Union and Drivers & Cleaners Union of Municipal Corporation, Jammu led by chairman of JKPDTU, Suresh Sharma, met JMC Commis-sioner, Dr Manmohan Singh, and discussed burning issues of the employees.
In the hour-long meeting, the delegation put forth many demands before the JMC Commissioner. The main demands include reorganization of JMC, allotment of flats built in Sunjwan by the JMC to Safai Karamcharis of the department, converting NGO Safai Karamcharis into casual labour and regularization of contractual drivers in the department.
Stating that the employees are his limbs, the JMC Commissioner assured the delegation that every possible step will be taken to redress their grievances. Admitting that their demands are genuine, he assured to consider them on top priority.
Meanwhile, the JKPDTU chairman appealed the workers to remain united and help in maintaining peace in the State and don not fall prey to the false rumours spread by anti-social/anti-national elements.
Rinku Gill, president, Civic Safai Karamchari Union and Ranjit Singh, president, Drivers and Cleaners Union, also accompanied the delegation.
