JAMMU, Sept 26: The Group B and Group C officers of Customs and Central Excise of J&K Commissionerate today observed hunger strike in response to the call given by the National Body of the Joint Action Committee.
The officers protested by wearing black badges. The whole protest was peaceful and did not hampered official work.
Speaking on the occasion, joint secretary of Gazetted Executive Officers Association (J&K Wing), DR Bhagat, demanded implementation of cadre restricting without any cut as approved by the Department of Expenditure, Government of India, parity with other counterparts, at least four functional promotions during service career and grade pay of Rs 6600 and Rs 7600 and 2nd and 3rd MACP upgradation.
PP Singh, representative of Customs and Central Excise Executive Officers Association, demanded finalization of in-situ promotion scheme, immediate implementation of Supreme Court verdict and first MACP upgradation in pay band 3.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Manish Emanual, Shivam Kaul, SK Gupta and Narottam Sharma.
