Srinagar, June 30: Government today said it has no plans to bring back those Muslims families to their native places who migrated to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) in early 90s when militancy started in Kashmir.
In a written reply to a question of lawmaker Engineer Abdul Rashid in Lower House, Minister incharge Revenue stated that there is no such proposal with Government to get these families back to their native places. According to officials, 1292 families from Jammu and Kashmir have migrated to PoK since early 1990s.
The Minister stated that Government notified the policy and procedure for “return and rehabilitation of militants” which “aims at those misguided youth who belong to those misguided youth who belong to the J&K State and had crossed over to PoK/ Pakistan between the periods from 01-01-1989 to 31 12-2009 for training in insurgency but have given up insurgency activities due to change of heart and are willing to return to the State”.
“The policy recognizes four routes for return of ex-militants, via JCP, Wagah/ Attari, Salamabad/Chakkan-da-Bagh and Indira Gandhi International Airport New Delhi but since the inception of this policy no youth has returned via any of the approved routes due to inexplicable reasons. However, the youth have been returning to the State along with their families via Nepal which is not an approved route under policy,” the Minister stated.
