No proposal to execute Mini Hydel Projects under PPP mode: Govt

SRINAGAR, June 29: Minister of State for Power Syed Farooq Andrabi informed that there is no scheme for implementation of Micro/Mini Hydel Power Projects under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode in the state.
Replying to a question of Vibod Gupta, the Minister said that JAKEDA (Science and Technology Department) is executing Micro/Mini Hydel Projects under the Independent Power Producers (IPP) mode and not under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
The policy for Development of Micro/Mini Hydro Power Projects was notified in 2011 containing general guidelines for execution of the MHPs on the IPPs mode and incentives available to the developers, Andrabi added.
The Minister  said JAKEDA has initiated competitive bidding for awarding 54 MHP sites in different areas of  the state having a cumulative capacity of 87.35 MW which also includes 13 sites of Poonch and Rajouri districts.
