People face shortage of ration in far-flung areas: Bhandari

JAMMU, June 23: Member of Civil Society Kishtwar and Congress leader Shamsher Singh Bhandari today expressed concern over scarcity of food grains in far-flung areas of the Chenab Valley and said since the implementation of National Food Security Act (NSFA) the people in far-flung areas were facing acute shortage of food-grains.
He in an appeal to Minister of CAPD sought his immediate intervention in the matter and urged him to reign in the corrupt officials in the CAPD who are looting the department and fleecing the consumers.
Bhandari also expressed concern over delaying tactics adopted by the Government in four-lanning of Batote Kishtwar road which has become a death trap totally. He demanded that the project regarding the four-lanning of this Highway which is the lifeline of Chenab Valley be finalized immediately.
He also demanded restoring the work on Rattle Power Projects and construction of other power projects on river Chenab to increase the power generation in the State to boost its economy. He said Chenab Valley has a potential of generating over 10,000 mw of power and if it is fully exploited the State can not only be self sufficient in power generation but can even generate lot of income by selling power to other states of country.
Bhandari also expressed concern over shortage of doctors and para medical staff in various hospitals of Kishtwar district as well as DH Kishtwar and demanded that the vacant posts be filled up immediately.
