JAMMU, June 7: A delegation of Manda Evening Walkers Association (MEWA) led by association president, Satish Verma, called on Rajesh Gupta, Executive Engineer, PHE Division, Jammu, here today, to apprise him of the problems being faced by the Manda walkers and the wild animals.
The delegation submitted a memorandum to Rajesh Gupta highlighting the demands related to water problem on the Manda Forest Walkers Trail. The memorandum said that the existing three water connections, two near Wazir Point and one at Lohar Top on the trail, which served water to the walkers in the morning and evening and also fill the ponds meant for drinking water by the wild animals and birds, were totally dry since the onset of peak summer season since May last.
The delegation urged the Executive Engineer that the pipe laid for the purpose be extended so that more small ponds can be constructed for the use of wild animals and birds. The Executive Engineer assured that the demands will be fulfilled within shortest possible period.
