DSS delegation takes up Jammu issues with Div Com

JAMMU, June 1: A delegation of  Dogra Sadar Sabha led by its president  and former Minister Gulchain Singh Charak met the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal and took up the issues of public importance from Jammu region.
The delegation discussed the issues one by one with the Divisional Commissioner and also submitted a memorandum to him.
The major issues which were taken up with the Divisional Commissioner Jammu included infamous Khour rape case of a girl in police custody, compensation to the next of kin of  Late Chamail Singh of  Pargwal at par with Sarabjeet Singh who was killed in Pakistan Jail, renovation of Mubarak Mandi complex, compensation of land under Army occupation in whole of the Jammu division in general and in sub-division Akhnoor particularly, establishment of a Sainik Colony in Kashmir province, hike in the remuneration of  Numberdars and Chowkidars besides issuance of uniforms for them.
It was also pointed out that PHE authorities have not made payment to the private tankers hired in Akhnoor area. The tanker owners have threatened to  suspend the water supply, therefore, the issue be resolved  without any delay.  It was also demanded that Jio- Pota Complex at the bank of river Chenab at Akhnoor be declared as protected monument. The issue of relocation of memorial of  Late Gen Atma Singh was also raised during the meet.
The delegation also urged upon the Divisional Adminis-tration to ensure proper distribution of ration to all the people in general and Tehsil -Khour in particular and protect Devika and Doodh- Ganga water bodies from the  land mafia.
The Divisional Commiss-ioner appreciated the activities of Dogra Sadar Sabha and role played by it, especially to maintain communal harmony,  preservance of cultural heritage and other issues of public importance. He assured to convey all the issues raised in the memorandum to the Chief Minister and other concerned agencies.
