HM module busted; 3 held

SRINAGAR, May 30: In a major success to security forces, police in North Kashmir’s Sopore have busted a recruitment module of Hizbul Mujahideen and arrested three of its members.
Superintendent of Police, Sopore, Harmeet Singh, said the police reliably learnt that three youths including Liyaqat Ahmad Lone, son of Late Ghulam Mohiudin Lone, Mohmad Shafi Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat, both residents of Harwan and Tariq Ahmad Najar, son of Mohmad Sultan Najar, resident of Badrahar in Handwara are working for Hizbul Mujahideen.
He said the police also learnt that they are recruiting the youth of area in the Hizb and subsequently they were apprehended. “After interrogation we found out that they were basically recruiters. Further interrogation and investigation is going on,” the SP said.
Police sources said that the trio had recently inducted a youth namely Umar Khaliq of Tujjar Sopore into Hizbul Mujahideen and were working to expand group’s base across Baramulla district. “A case under FIR number 45/2016 under Section 18B, 20 Unlawful Activities Act has been registered in Bomai police station.Further interrogation and investigation is going on,” the SP Sopore added.
