Mufti wanted India-Pak to break ice for peace, prosperity: Choudhary

JAMMU, Mar 17: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and former member J&K State Advisory Board for Gujjars and Bakerwals, Abdul Hamid Choudhary today said that proposed meeting of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who is participating in the SAARC Ministerial meeting, with Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharief was aimed at breaking ice and that was what late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed always favoured.
Choudhary said India and Pakistani diplomats have done enough ground work and hoped that both the neighbouring countries will be able to discuss varied issues in cordial atmosphere thereby paving a way for good relations which are imperative for peace in the entire sub-continent. This was what Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had always favoured as well, he added.
Hoping that this proposed meet would prove productive, Choudhary Hamid said Mufti Mohammad Sayeed too wanted India and Pakistan to continue holding talks at all levels for executing plans to improve connectivity, counter terrorism and other issues concerning both nations.
