JAMMU, Mar 10: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) in association with the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) organized a seminar on Women Empowerment Through Entrepreneurship.
Dr. Naheed Soz, Managing Director, J&K State Women Development Corporation was the chief guest on the occasion while Vikrant Kuthiala, Chairman of the PHDCCI J&K Committee was the guest of honour on the occasion. Around 120 budding women engineers from MIET attended the event.
Three successful women entrepreneurs of Jammu city, Renuka Raina Modi, Owner Renuka Cakes, Ritika Trehan, MD Ritz Manor and Looks Salon and Monika Manohar, Founder and Owner Women Alive Fitness were the special invitees at the event.
They shared their entrepreneurial journey’s, challenges and the satisfaction at achieving success with the young engineers and encouraged them to follow their dreams and passions in an uninhibited manner. They were honoured by the PHDCCI in recognition of their achievements.
Later the students interacted with the entrepreneurs asking them insightful questions.
Vikrant Kuthiala, Chairman, PHDCCI, Jammu presented the welcome address and highlighted cogent issues which need to be addressed collectively by the society to attain true women empowerment.
Dr. Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET shared some research studies by Forbes and Kellog’s School of Management which provide new insights into organizational success being dependent upon the percentage of women in key leadership positions in an organization. He opined that the glass ceiling in corporate world stands shattered and encouraged the girl students to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams in the hi-technology sector.
Dr. Naheed Soz, Managing Director, J&K State Women Development Corporation in her address outlined economic empowerment of women as the key to alleviating suppression and creating new avenues of growth and development. She motivated the young women engineers to gain meaningful employment and achieve financial independence before settling down in life.
Rahul Sahai, Chairman, Sahai Group of Companies presented the formal vote of thanks and reiterated the commitment of the PHDCCI in organizing events which are relevant, timely and focused on issues which impact the society at large.
