JAMMU, Mar 7: Gharota police today booked nine persons for assaulting a man in Kanger area falling within its limits.
According to a police spokesman, a complaint in this regard was filed today by Bashir Ahmed son of Mushtaq Ahmed, a resident of Kanger. He said that in his complaint, Bashir Ahmed alleged that Raj Ali and eight other persons on the evening of March 5 broke into his house and started demanding money from his father, Mushtaq Ahmed, and when the latter denied they beat him mercilessly with lathies and stones till he fell unconscious.
Quoting the complainant, the spokesman said that in unconscious the victim was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, for treatment by the neighbours.
A case FIR No 10/2016 under Section 452, 323, 147, 148, 149 RPC was registered at police station Gharota and efforts were on to nab the accused, who were at large.
