NAGROTA, Feb 20: Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today described hide and seek drama being enacted by PDP-BJP duo as detrimental to democratic polity, saying continued political instability has created a piquant situation in a sensitive State like Jammu and Kashmir.
“Publicly the duo is adopting a reconciliatory posturing but all does not seem to be well within the inner rungs of the two parties”, Mr Rana said at a function after dedicating an ambulance, out of his Constituency Development Fund, to Medical Aid Centre Bamyal in Nagrota Assembly Constituency.
He, however, hurriedly added that the crisis within the PDP and the BJP is their internal affair but there is no denying the fact that the two parties were testing patience of their electorate, who mandated them with hope. He said they have not only ditched their supporters but also held the entire State to ransom for their petty politics.
Mr Rana said that while PDP is braving simmering revolt within its ranks, the BJP is taking sadistic pleasure by not giving face-saver to the prospective Chief Minister so that the delay of nearly one and a half month is justified. “In a bid to befool people by showing high moral grandstanding, the two parties have actually exposed themselves”, he maintained.
The Provincial President described the delaying tactics in Government formation as a well thought over strategy of the PDP and BJP, which fear to face the electorate in case the snap polls become necessary. “The false promises have proved to be big hoax during ten-months’ rule of the coalition, which instead of learning a lesson is still misadventuring  by heightening the expectations of people”, he said while questioning the credibility of the erstwhile dispensation which PDP President publicly described as unpopular.
Mr Rana said the two parties are also faced with the challenge of growing power centres within, which is why they are unable to take a final call on the government formation. He advised the duo to accept the ground realities and pave way for holding fresh elections. “The Government formation should not be an open ended issue”, he said.
The Provincial President exhorted the people to gear up for a big democratic exercise, though uncalled for so immediately yet necessary to have a popular government in place, saying a stable and strong National Conference alone can meet their aspirations. He said the people have realized the futility of supporting ‘opposite poles’ during the 2014 elections, which gave them nothing except miseries.
While handing over the ambulance to MAC, Mr Rana hoped this will meet the need of the area, which has been suffering for want of ready transport to shift the patients in case of exigencies.
