Police solve hit and run case, accused held

Srinagar, Feb 12: Police today said it has solved a hit and run case in which a lady was killed by arresting an accused in North Kashmir’s Handwara area of Kupwara district.
A police spokesman said on January 13 an unknown vehicle hit and critically injured a woman identified as Jabeena begum who later on succumbed to her injuries in Handwara hospital. “In this regard, a case under FIR number 13/2016 under sections 299, 337, 304-A was registered and investigation was set into motion,” he said.
The spokesman said the investigating team after twenty seven days long strenuous efforts succeeded in tracing the vehicle in question as i-10 Grand under registration no Jk01V 5315. “Last evening investigating team succeeded in arresting the accused driver. The vehicle in question has been also seized,” he said.
