Manawari’s 1st poetry book released by Dogri Sanstha

JAMMU, Feb 10: A collection of Dogri Ghazals and Rubayaat ‘Haamb’ by prominent Urdu and Dogri poet Col Raz Manawari was released in an impressive function organized by Dogri Sanstha Jammu here at KL Saigal Hall.
The function was attended by a large number of writers, artists and intellectuals representing different languages.
Dr Om Goswami, former Additional Secretary and Sahitya Akademi awardee, Dr Veena Gupta former HoD, Dogri Department, JU, Chhatrapal, president, Dogri Sanstha Jammu, along with some senior writers and poets released the book which incorporates 80 Gazals and 60 Rubayaat.
While speaking on the occasion, Goswami said that the Ghazals of this book divulge the genius of poet who had great love for ghazal and command on its form. “This book would be a guiding star for the new poets”, he added.
Eulogizing the literary qualities of the Ghazals of Raz Manawari, Dr Veena Gupta said that the poet has broadened the horizons of Dogri by using such words which are fast disappearing.
Dr Rattan Basotra, a critic, read out a paper on the Ghazals and Rubaayaat of ‘Haamb’ illuminating merits of its form and content. The paper was supported by many couplets from the book.
Deepak Aarsi, Raaj Kumar Chandan, Khalid Hussain and Shashaank Chowdhary also expressed their views on the personality and poetry of Raz Munawari.
Earlier, welcoming the audience Chhatrapal threw light on the literary journey of Dogri Ghazal and said that Raz Manawari’s “Haamb” would be a role model for the upcoming Dogri Ghazal poet.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr Nirmal Vinod, general secretary of Dogri Sanstha.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Lalit Gupta, Shailendra Singh, Dr Baljeet Raina, Sunil Sharma, Susheel Begana, Dr Raj Kumar, Narinder Bhasin, Shiv Dev Susheel, Mohan Singh, Hardeep Singh Deep, Pyasa Anjum, Dr Gyan Singh, Ashok Dutta, Vijaya Singh and family members of the poet.
