KATHUA, Feb 8: Thousands of devotees took a holy dip in holy waters at Ariwana Temple, in Nagri here on the occasion of Somwar Amavasya, today.
People from neighbouring states of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh including districts of Jammu reached the temple since early morning and started assembling on the steps of the bowlies to take the holy dip. Some devotees were seen arriving since Sunday night.
The occasion attained more religious significance as the festival fell on Monday, which is a sacred day for Hindus. The Temple complex consisted of Ram Darwar temple, Shani Mandir, Radha Krishan Temple.
After having darshan in the temple, devotees were seen at the eatables stalls enjoying the food stuff and small children were seen playing in the children park.
Elaborate arrangements were made by civil administration of the District for maintaining peace and order and to keep vigil over every movement.
It is believed that the temple is famous since Pandawas’ era.
