JAMMU, Feb 8: The temporary workers of the PHE Department held protest demonstration near Press Club here today.
A large number of PHE workers under the banner of All J&K CP Workers /DRW Association assembled under the leadership of Kulbhushan Singh at Exhibition Ground near Press Club here and launched protest demonstration against the senior officers of the PHE and State Government. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands.
The protesting workers also raised slogans against previous Governments and alleged that the CP workers and other daily rated workers of the department, especially from Jammu and Kathua districts were denied justice.
Kulbushan Singh while addressing the large gathering of workers alleged that Govt led by BJP and PDP promised that regularization policy for temporary workers will be framed within three months but nothing was done in this regard within ten months. Even the Government failed to release the pending wages of CP workers.
He demanded that regularization policy for the CP and other temporary workers of the PHE be framed without any delay and pending wages of the workers be released immediately as their families are facing hardships. They also sought the intervention of State Governor.
Later, a deputation of the CP Workers/ DRW Association met the Chief Engineer PHE and apprised him of their issues. Prominent among others who accompanied included Birbal, Kamlesh Kumar, Manjeet Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Subash Chander, Ram Pal, Mushtaq Ahmed, Parvez Latief, Salim, Ravan Khajuria and Raj Kumar.
