JAMMU, Dec 30: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) today organized award ceremony function of Annual Drama festivals for the year 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2015-16 here at Abhinav Theatre.
On the occasion, Priya Sethi, Minister of State for Information, Education and Culture was the chief guest while Sat Sharma, MLA Jammu West presided over the function. Dr Aziz Hajini, Secretary and Dr Arvninder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL were also present.
While speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma said that theatre has the capacity to attract the audience even today at the age of television and internet. He said that the theatre not only entertains but also brings out the social evils in a more effective ways.
Priya Sethi while delivering her address said that the State Government has now focused on the development and preservation of art, culture and literature being written in the State. While referring the last meeting with Directors of School Education from Jammu and Kashmir, Director Colleges, Secretary, Culture and Secretary, J&K Cultural Academy, she said that the directions have been issued to the Education and Culture Departments to initiate some collaborative programmes so that the students and the youth could be provided a platform to interact and have a glimpse of the literature, culture and arts of the State.
Earlier, while welcoming the gathering Dr Aziz Hajni, said that the Academy is organizing various kind of theatre and drama related activities besides the International festival in the month of February. He further said that Academy is initiating some more theatre related activities besides other literary and cultural activities in near future.
In the function two skits by Basant Vyaogi and Poonam were also presented which were highly appreciated by the audience.
Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL presented vote of thanks. Dr Sudhir, Senior Drama instructor conducted the proceedings of the programme.
