Kashmir girls return from army tour

Srinagar, Dec 14: On the last leg of an immensely educative and enriching tour, the group of 30 girls students from Kashmir reached Udhampur.
The tour had commenced on December 5, when they were flagged off from Srinagar by the Army’s Sub Area Commander. The group while in Delhi had an enlightening interaction with the President at Rashtripati Bhavan and Union HRD Minister, Smriti Irani and further went to Agra and Fatehpur Sikri.
In Delhi, the group had useful interaction at Delhi University and Maulana Azad Medical College, besides witnessing the ongoing Kala Utsav, an amalgam of diverse cultures of India, during which they met the Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi.
On their return to Kashmir, the group was received and welcomed at the Headquarters of Northern Command at Udhampur by Maj Gen Anil Kapoor, of Headquarters Northern Command today. Their enthusiasm and vibrance was all evident, as portrayed in the words of their team leader Lt Cdr Jyoti, a lady officer from Indian Navy, who had accompanied the group, when she said, “This tour has been a dream come true for the girls who had come on explore the world outside the Valley”.  She added that such experience helps in kindling the ambition and motivation of students to excel in life.
