SRINAGAR, Dec 14: J&K Bank organized a series of financial literacy camps in Budgam and Baramulla during the last many weeks.
The bank’s Financial Literacy and Credit Counseling Center, Budgam organized awareness camps regarding financial literacy and schemes like Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Yojana (PMSBY) at Government Higher Secondary School, Chadura and Sheikh- ul -Alam Hall, Budgam in collaboration with J&K State Resource Centre, University of Kashmir.
While speaking on the occasion, Facilitator FLCC Budgam AH Rafiqi apprised the participants at both the camps about the benefits of financial literacy and advantages of various Government schemes. He said PMSBY is an insurance scheme which has been launched for rural poor, working class and weaker sections of the society to insure the security of their lives against unfortunate event of death due to accident or disability at an affordable premium of Rs 12 per year to be deducted through their account under Auto Debit Facility.
The representatives from the bank’s business units at Chadura and Budgam educated the participants about the procedures of enrolling under the scheme by filling the forms available with Business Correspondents (BC) and branches of the Bank. The participants were urged to participate actively in the scheme while the banks and BCs were advised to arrange the forms at the Centre so that maximum beneficiaries are enrolled by involving their field staff in the said process.
Besides, the participants were informed about other schemes like PMJDY, usage of Rupay Cards, DRI Scheme and artisan loan schemes suitable for low income group of the society including formation of Self Help Groups. The participants were encouraged to improve their economic conditions by opting for such schemes available at their nearest bank branches on relaxed norms and low rate of Interest.
The bank’s FLCC Center at Baramulla participated in a mega camp organized by PIB under Bharat Nirman Public Information campaign at Mini Stadium Uri for three days, wherein, all the concerned departments and banks operating in the district participated.
J&K Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq Khan inaugurated the camp and apprised the audience regarding various developmental schemes being initiated for District Baramulla in general and Block Uri in particular.
Facilitator FLCC Baramulla spoke in detail about the Prime Minister’s Jhan Dhan Yojna for comprehensive coverage of all the financially excluded households in the country.
