JAMMU, Dec 8: Three weeks long UGC Refresher course in the faculty of Mathematical Sciences being organized by UGC Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) and Department of Computer Sciences, commenced at the University of Jammu.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the refresher course, Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, JU, asked the participants that such courses should not be taken only as eligibility requirement for career advancements but should also be used for getting acquainted with the latest techniques available in teaching so that the same is disseminated to the students.
He called upon the educators that they owe the responsibility of building an institution and that, he said, can be done by contributing through their teachings.
Earlier in his welcome address, Prof. Vinod Sharma, Head, Department of Computer Sciences and Co-ordinator of the programme said that the refresher course has been organized in the subjects with lectures from eminent teachers and resource persons.
Giving the brief overview of the refresher course in Mathematical Sciences, Prof. Naresh Padha, Director, UGC HRDC said that this course will provide the participants an opportunity to interact with the reputed resource persons and also with the participants from different places and backgrounds.
Dr. D. S. Oberoi, threw light on the importance of refresher course and also discussed about the technological impact on our day-to-lives and said that all the three subjects under Mathematical sciences are co-related.
Later, Palak Mahajan presented the formal vote of thanks.
More than 30 teachers from various Colleges and Universities from within and outside the state are participating in the three-weeks refresher course.
