RAFIABAD, Dec 7: Former Minister, Abdul Gani Vakil, today criticized Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for adopting deliberate silence on intolerance issue.
While addressing a convention of his supporters at Panzala, Vakil expressed his serious concern over the growing intolerance in the country and said that Muslims and other minorities in India are now feeling highly insecure and unsafe.
He lambasted Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for adopting deliberate silence on intolerance issue and not taking up this important and serious issue with Prime Minister in the capacity of being an only Muslim Chief Minister in the country.
He said that from Babri to Dadri, BJP’s politics never changed and still this party is dependent on religious exploitation and silence of Mufti Mohammad Syeed despite being a Muslim Chief Minister purely to secure power has encouraged BJP leadership to a dangerous extent.
In the convention, a resolution was passed, which impressed upon the J&K Government to protect the fruit industry as it is an important source of bread and butter for over five lakh people besides being a recognized contributor to State’s economy. It also urged the Government to formulate a policy so that this industry is streamlined, protected and preserved.
In the context of proposed visit of Sushma Swaraj, Union External Affairs Minister to Pakistan on December 8, he said it is a right and best endeavour for infusing confidence and restoring normal ties between two neighbouring countries.
Vakil asked the Government of India not to run or shy away from the reality dimensions of Kashmir dispute and urged them talk to all stake holders and must take them into confidence including Hurriyat conference otherwise efforts to restore normalcy in the State will not yield any fruitful results.
