JAMMU, Dec 7: Mian Altaf Ahmad, Member Legislative Assembly from Kangan and Chairman PAC called on Governor N.N. Vohra, here at the Raj Bhavan today.
Mian Altaf discussed with the Governor various matters relating to the need for speeding up developmental works, better utilization of available resources and time bound completion of projects and programmes.
Keeping in view the observations contained in the last report of CAG, the Governor stressed the importance of maintaining and sending accounts of expenditures incurred under various programmes.
Surender Ambardar, Member Legislative Council also called on Governor N.N. Vohra.
Mr. Ambardar discussed several issues relating to the rehabilitation and welfare schemes for Kashmiri Migrants and effective protection of the properties left behind them in the Valley.
The Governor urged Mr. Ambardar to vigorously associate himself with the efficient implementation of all programmes for the welfare of Kashmiri migrants.
Prof. Sudhir K. Jain, Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), called on Governor and briefed him about the ongoing activities in the University relating to infrastructure development.
The Governor advised Professor Jain to significantly enlarge the hostel accommodation for girl students, considering that their number has been increasing speedily from year to year. He also reiterated his concern about the need to provide the maximum possible exposure to the students through participation in competitions and varied other activities, which would raise their capacities and confidence.
