Srinagar, Dec 6: Senior separatist leader and chairman of moderate Hurriyat Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today distributed relief cheques to over one hundred flood victims in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The cheques were distributed in 106 flood-hit families at a function organized in Islamia School in the district. Mirwaiz on the occasion castigated State and Central Government and termed the packages announced so far “a mere eyewash”.
“People crave for flood relief even after one year of the deluge. The Government has miserably failed to provide relief to the victims of deluge. We took an initiative today and extended a helping hand to the flood victims of Kulgam and Anantnag flood victims,” he added.
