JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu today said the Government has no plans to revoke tax on Vaishno Devi Heli Services.
Reiterating his stand on the move of the Service tax on ‘heli services’, Dr Drabu categorically refused to withdraw 12.5 per cent service tax imposed on pilgrims travelling to holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi by choppers.
Imposition of tax invited criticism across Jammu since insurance of notification on September 2. “Service Tax has been imposed on all the commercial chopper services across the state and shrine board is also charging landing charges from helicopter operators which is borne by the pilgrims,” Mr Drabu told reporters during a press conference here this afternoon while announcing details with regard to Skill Development Programme approved by the State Cabinet.
“It has not affected the operation of helicopters, so the issue should not be politicised,” the Finance Minister added.
