Leh, Nov 28: The highest located drill square of Ladakh Scouts Regt Centre (LSRC) was stirred by the clap of palms on rifles, precise drill movements and the ankles digging into the parade ground as 72 recruits of LSRC began their lifetime journey as soldiers in battalions of Ladakh Scout Regiment.
The passing out parade was held at the LSRC today where Parade Commander Recruits Stanzin Norgais led the smartly dressed recruits. The impressive ceremony was reviewed by Lieutenant General SK Patyal, GoC 14 Corps. The function was attended by civil and service dignitaries and parents of recruits.
The young soldiers often referred to as Nonos (young boy) hailing from all regions of Ladakh took oath in unison to serve for the supreme cause of the nation.
Lieutenant General SK Patyal who was reviewing officers at the parade said that be it Pakistan or China no one dare to look towards Ladakh Frontiers often guarded by young Ladakh Scouts soldiers. He added that Ladakh Scouts regiment within a short span of time accomplished much more than any other regiment of the India Army and you (recruits) will feel pride to be part of it.
The young riflemen were awarded different prizes for their outstanding performances during the training. Recruits Sonam Gyaltsan was judged as best recruit followed by Paldan Gonbo as runner-up. Riflemen Ibrahim Ali was judged as best instructor.
Gaurav Pathak was also presented to the parents of the young soldiers witnessing the passing out parade. It was indeed a pride moment for the kith and kin of these recruits who had come from far-flung areas to witness the eventful ceremony in which their wards participated.
Pertinent to mention, the 72 recruits were recruited in Ladakh Scouts 49 Corps 46 weeks ago. During 8 weeks training was given in Hindi language and another 19 weeks the recruits were imparted basic military training so as to teach them about the basic principles of military along with physical drill and ammunition training. Finally 15 weeks advance military training was imparted during which they were made professionals in rock climbing, weapon, field engineering, navigation, map reading, etc.
