JAMMU, Nov 28: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sukhnandan Kumar today paid a surprise visit to the office of Executive Engineer of PHE at Samba and instructed the employees to maintain regularity in the offices.
“Strict action would be taken against those employees who would be found indulging in corrupt practices or turn up late for duty”, said the Minister.
Urging the officers to ensure regular water supply in all blocks of Samba district, the Minister said that the people must get the benefit of the schemes being launched by the Government.
The safe drinking water must reach the inaccessible areas of the district and steps have already been initiated for the same by taking up several water supply schemes under NRDWP and other related ones. He further said that providing safe drinking water to the people forms one of the priority sectors of the Government and instructions have already been passed to the concerned to ensure the same.
Showing concern towards the farmers who solely depend on agriculture for their livelihood, the Minister said that sufficient water should be provided to the farmers for irrigation purposes and they should also ensure that water is used judiciously both for drinking and irrigation purposes.
