PM’s package will accelerate J&K’s development: DyCM

JAMMU, Nov 25: The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said the development of the State would be accelerated by the recently announced Prime Minister’s package which encompasses every essential sector and it would go a long way in making the State one of the model States of the country.
The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing huge gathering at villages of Thadda Kilyal and Thadda Kalwal in Billawar area of Kathua district here today. Senior officers of administration, political activists and people from different walks of life were also present.
The Deputy Chief Minister said; “Our mission is to ensure holistic development of the State on equitable basis, so that the people get the requisite and essential amenities without facing any inconvenience. The recent package announced by the Prime Minister would go in a long way in acting as a catalyst and further speed up the developmental initiatives and overall scenario of the development being undertaken by the Government.
Dr. Singh while referring to the various initiatives taken up by the Government for development of Billawar and Basohli areas, said that a new sports stadium would be constructed at Billawar, so that the youth of the area get requisite infrastructural   facilities for honing their talent, so that they can participate in various national and international events and bring laurels to their area and the State. He said that the area would be connected with the railways and in this regard a survey would be started soon.
“The whole areas of Billawar and Basohli would be brought under the tourist circuit in order to give the tourism and related activities a flip. This would ensure creation of jobs to the youth besides elevating the economic profile of the people of the area”, he said and added that the hospital at Billawar would also be upgraded by providing the modern medical equipments besides the related facilities.
“The area would also be the taking point of the express highway of Delhi-Katra which would be connecting the State with various other States thereby increasing connectivity which would further increase the economic and trade related activities”, he added. He said that an amount of Rs. 42000 crore has been earmarked for ensuring better connectivity of the rural and far-flung areas with the districts headquarters besides connecting the State with other neighboring states.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that under PM’s Package an amount of Rs. 11000 crore has been kept for the augmentation of the power sector in the State by upgrading the existing infra and adding new. He said that the time is  not far away when the people of the State would be having 24×7 supply of electric power which would also accelerate the industrial activities by promoting entrepreneurship.
