Protest against water scarcity, road blocked

RAJOURI, Aug 30: Residents of  Jawahar Nagar and adjoining areas of the town held protest demonstration against the PHE authorities and blocked Rajouri-Kalakot road for about two hours today.
The people from Manhas Mohalla, Jawahar Nagar and several adjoining localities came out on the road near Main Chowk Jawahar Nagar around mid day today and started protest demonstration. They sat on dharna in the middle of the road and blocked it for about two hours.
The movement of vehicles came to grinding halt on  Rajouri-Kalakote road with the protest of public. They raised slogans against the PHE Minister and concerned officers of the district and said that local residents were facing lot of problems due to disruption in the water supply for days together. They alleged that PHE authorities have even failed to make alternate arrangements of water for the public. Many women and children also joined protest.
Later, SHO Rajouri reached the spot but the people refused to lift dharna and asked to produce the PHE officers on the spot. Later, concerned PHE officials arrived there and assured irate public to restore water supply and improve general supply condition in the area. The public then lifted dharna at around 2 pm.
