DB directives in PIL on court complex security

JAMMU, Nov 23: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Advocate Sumit Nayyar seeking directions to State to provide proper security in the court complex at Janipur, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Hasnain Massodi issued various directions to the police.
After hearing Advocate Veenu Gupta, the DB observed, “as per the report submitted by Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi, the Malkhana existing in the basement of District Court Complex in which dynamites, live bombs, detonators  are stored, causes serious security threat to the entire District Court Complex, Judges, Lawyers and litigants”.
“Since urgent steps are required to be taken in this regard, the Principal District Judge, Jammu is directed to take steps for removal of the combustible detonators, explosive substance/grenades and other articles from Malkhana after specific directions for its defusal/disposal”, the DB said, adding “this shall be done without loss of time and with utmost expeditious”.
In another application filed by Advocate Jaspinder Singh regarding withdrawal of security of retired judges, Division Bench directed Additional Director General of Police to restore the PSO of former judges.
