Police holds drug de-addiction awareness programme

Srinagar, Nov 19: In its initiative to eradicate drug menace from society, police de-addiction services based in Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir conducted school mental health programme at Shaheen Public School here in Ganderpora area of Eidgah here.
A police spokesman said the focus of the programme was to provide insight to the students about the seriousness of drug addiction. Starting the session Dr Shabir-ul-Rehman spoke about drug addiction and the treatment facilities available at Police Drug De-addiction Centre, he said.
“Counsellor  Zahid Jeelani highlighted the drug addiction scenario of Kashmir, the causes and consequences of addiction. He also spoke about preventive measures and the role of Jammu and Kashmir Police in the prevention of drug menace,” the spokesman said.
Drug addiction as a social evil, its effects on society and responsibilities of society in its eradication were highlighted by social worker Manzoor Ahmad Yatoo. He also made the students aware about the warning signs and symptoms of an addict, the police spokesman said.
“At the end of the programme question answer session was also held. The queries were answered satisfactorily by the experts.
