JAMMU, Nov 6: NHPC Limited organised a State level painting competition on energy conservation at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, Jammu University here today.
NHPC was entrusted with the responsibility of organizing school and State level painting competitions on the subject Energy Conservation-2015 by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power. These painting contests are the part of national awareness campaign launched by Ministry of Power for promoting energy conservation in the country.
As a part of this programme, earlier all the schools in the State were requested to organize painting contest in their own schools amongst students of 4th, 5th and 6th (Category A) and 7th, 8th and 9th ( Category-B) and send two best paintings from both the categories to the Nodal Officer. As many as 430 schools and 33000 students from the J&K State participated in the programme. On October 28, jury consisting of eminent artists and representatives from State Education Department, selected 110 paintings out of 860 received from various schools.
Prathmansh Sharma of class 4th from DPS Jammu, Mannat Sharma of 5th from Sai International, Sparsh Sharma of 5th grabbed Ist, 2nd and third prizes respectively from Category A; Akash S Revanhar of class 9th from DPS Jammu, Ajay Kumar of class 7th from Sainik School Nagrota and Yasmeen of class 9th from Govt School Mendhar bagged Ist, 2nd and 3rd prize, respectively in Category B.
Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Simrandeep Singh gave away the cash prizes of Rs 20,000, Rs 15000 and Rs 10,000 to Ist, 2nd and 3rd rank winners in a function held here today. Twenty students were also given consolation prizes worth Rs 2500 each. Executive Director NHPC, Om Parkash, R K Kedia, chief (HR); V Ranga Rao chief (Fin), Yoginder Kotha, M K Kashyap Chief Engineers, Jury members, students, teachers and many others were also present on the occasion.
The DC and Executive Director NHPC also addressed the gathering.
