Bring end to discrimination with Jammu: Bhim to PM

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Nov 2: Pleading the case of Jammu people before the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, chief  patron of JKNPP, Prof Bhim Singh has urged the PM to ensure holding of delimitation of Assembly constituencies  and rotation of reserved constituencies in Jammu region.
In a letter flashed to the Prime Minister, Prof Bhim Singh said that there was urgent need of his intervention for providing justice to the people of Jammu region especially with regard to the above mentioned issues. He said the new districts were created  by the J&K Government in 2007-08without re-adjusting the boundaries of the Assembly constituencies. Presently, some assemblies fall in 2-3 districts, which is against the guidelines of Election Commission of India and even the Representation of Peoples Act.
The J&K Govt enacted a totally illegal law in 2002 under the leadership of NC. The BJP had 8 MLAs who supported the NC. A shameful amendment was brought banning delimitation  even in respect of   fresh settlement of geographical boundaries, and denying any opportunity for the rotation of the reserved constituencies, which did a great injustice to the people of Jammu region.
He also referred the 24 constituencies reserved for the PoK refugees in J&K Legislature and demanded that atleast      eight reserved seats be kept for PoK refugees living in J&K.  He sought the permanent settlement of the PoK and West Pakistan refugees besides other displaced persons/ migrants  of  Jammu region. The NPP leader also pleaded for according ST status to the Paharis.
