JAMMU, Oct 10: Forest Department teams from Billawar Forest Division today retrieved 36 kanal and 9 marlas of forest land during operations in Basohli and Ramkote area today.
Official sources said that a team of Forest official led by DFO Billawar, Sat Paul along with Range Officer, Basohli Narinder Verma, assisted by Forest Protection Force officials and Police, organised a joint operation in Compartment No. 18/Bsl and removed encroachment on 19 kanal and 4 marlas of Forest land at village Sabar. Executive Magistrate Ist Class (Naib Tehsildar) also accompanied the team involved in operation besides SHO Basohli, B D Singh.
A tin- structure and three Kullas were also smashed by the Forest team with the help of JCB. There was some resistance from the land grabbers but with the help of police and FPF men, the operation was accomplished successfully.
In yet another operation in Ramkote Range of Billawar Forest Division, the Forest team led by RO, Suresh Kumar Gupta managed to retrieve nearly 16 kanals and 5 marlas of Forest land. This land had been encroached upon by Shallo Ram and Chet Ram, residents of Morha Kothi Thayal in Ramkote since long. The DFO directed the RO to fence the retrieved area.
The operation was organised under the close supervision of CF Jammu East Circle , B M Sharma and CCF Jammu Roshan Jaggi.
