KATHUA, Oct 10: A youth killed his wife by attacking her with a brick late last night at their residence in village Jakhwarh near here. She has been identified as Sanjota.
According to police Sanjota had an altercation with her husband Suresh Kumar S/o Nand Lal at their residence in Jakhwarh village late last night and a scuffle ensued between the two. To overpower his wife Suresh attacked her with a brick and she received grievous injury in her head.
She was rushed to District Hospital Kathua by other family members and neighbors where she succumbed to her injury.
However her husband fled after the incident. The dead body was later handed over to family for last rites by Police after postmortem this morning.
The Nagri Parole Police Post falling under the jurisdiction of Kathua Police Station has registered FIR No 319 under section 302 against Suresh Kumar who was arrested late in the evening. The police has also seized the weapon of offence.
After hearing the news about the death of their daughter the parents of Sanjota rushed to her village from Ramnagar along with their other relatives and protested against the killing. They demanded immediate arrest of Suresh Kumar.
