Trucker held with 1.25 qtls poppy straw

RAMBAN, Oct 3: Batote police arrested a truck driver and recovered 1.25 quintals of poppy straw (bhukki) from his possession.
As per police sources, on a specific information, police team from Batote police station intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB07D-5565 at Ladhwal Morh.
During checking, 7 bags containing poppy straw weighing around 1.25 quintals were found concealed in the truck.
Accordingly, the truck driver namely Rajvinder Singh alias Jinder, son of Darshan Singh, a resident of Kapurthala, Punjab was arrested on the spot. The truck alongwith poppy straw was also seized on the spot.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at police station Batote and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Batote police station Inspector Arun Kotwal made the arrest under the supervision of SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
