JAMMU, Sept 11: The levying of 12.5 per cent service tax on chopper service at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi has been condemned.
J&K Sikh Societies held a meeting under the chairmanship of its Chief Patron Gurdeep Singh Sasan.
Addressing the meeting, Sasan expressed concern over levying of 12.5 per cent service tax on helicopter service to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, adding that Government’s decision will hurt the sentiments of millions of devotees across the world. He urged the Government to immediately roll back this decision.
Strongly condemning the imposition of service tax on the Helicopter services to Mata Vaishno Devi, Balwant Singh Mankotia, State President, NPP alongwith several Panthers Party activists staged a protest outside the DC Office Udhampur demanding its immediate revocation. The angry protestors also blocked Dhar Road, leading to long traffic jam.
Mankotia while dubbing the taxation order as sacrilegious cautioned the State Government to revoke the order without any delay or else face dire consequences.
