Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 9: A meeting of SKUAST – Teaching Association Jammu (SKUAST-TAJ) was held under the chairmanship of its president Dr Vikas Sharma. Besides Association members, the meeting was attended by all the HoDs from Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Basic Sciences and School of Biotechnology in which various issues pertaining to the development of different divisions located at Chatha were discussed.
The house expressed unanimously for the improvement of contract system for providing labour to Scientists/Teachers as in the present system, credibility of contractor and trust deficit with the labour were creating a lot of problems for the Institution. Moreover, scientists are arranging and engaging the labour with their own efforts and labour contractor was drawing unnecessary benefits in the form of commission without any effort.
It was also impressed that there should be better coordination between the university units for speedy settlement of financial claims for visiting faculty and external examiners thereby avoiding delay in disbursement of the same to the concerned. Various other agendas related to budget allotment, balance statement, organisation of talk series for faculty etc were also deliberated in the meeting.
Besides office bearers of SKUAST-TAJ, the meeting was attended by Prof R K Gupta, Prof V K Koul, Prof V K Vali, Prof Bikram Singh, Prof S A Mallick, Prof S E H Rizvi, Prof K R Sharma, Prof Anil Gupta, Prof Susheel Sharma, Prof Dileep Kachroo, Prof Jyoti Kachroo and others. Dr Vivek M Arya, general secretary of the association presented agenda of the meeting.
