Sir,
I would like to request J&K State Govt and especially Jammu based Ministers and leaders of all political parties to listen to most justified demand of non-Urdu knowing candidates for the post of Naib-Tehsildar. As per notification of Service Selection Board Urdu subject has been made compulsory part of written Test. The students of all communities of Jammu Division has no proper provision to study Urdu in schools where there is acute shortage of Urdu Teachers. If the practice is allowed to continue, It will deprive thousands of most deserving candidates to sit in this Examination. Now some old SRO is being shown as basis of this requirement. It should also be noted that said SRO was alive during the previous Govt also but non Urdu knowing candidates were selected on the intervention of Ministers. Same consideration should be applied this time also. The Govt knows it well that unemployment is major problem in J&K State and with the increase in Retirement age by two years, the unemployment has reached at alarming stage.
All of us know that the SRO’s are issued for the welfare of the people, so they can be changed even after floating an advertisement. The requisite conditions can be changed at any stage of recruitment by the employer. You can not keep such a large population out of race to get Govt job. It is not the post of Urdu Teacher, but the administrative nature post where Urdu can be taught/learnt during Training period. All the non-Urdu knowing KAS officers, Sub Inspectors and even the Patwari’s have learnt Urdu within short time and are working effectively. So the Govt of the people should show sympathy with these unemployed lot and the SRO should be modified with condition to qualify Urdu Test during Training period.
Yours etc…
