BANIHAL, Sept 5: Criticising PDP-BJP Government for leaving the rain- hit farmers and flood sufferers in lurch, National Conference district president for Ramban, Sajjad Shaheen today said that the problems of the people have increased manifold and the response of the administration was shocking due to lack of political direction.
During his extensive visit to remote Bajnar and Mahu-Mangat areas, Mr Shaheen took stock of the problems being faced by the people. He listened to their woes on account of damages caused to crops and residential dwellings. He alleged that no compensation has been paid to farmers and others for damage caused to houses and crops. The NC leader said that maize cultivation has been the only mainstay of the farmers and due to flash floods and rains this crops has suffered massive damages.
Mr Shaheen urged the administration to provide six months’ free rations to the farmers and carry out the assessment of losses on immediately for processing their compensation cases. He expressed anguish over the lackadaisical approach of the Govt towards development and maintenance of the utility services. He said the Govt is almost invisible on ground as a result the restoration works are getting least attention.
