Army, Forest officers celebrate Van Mahotsava

Jammu, Sept 3: The 66th Van Mahotsava was today celebrated at Government  Middle School Chargwali near Army Camp, Tootan Di Khui.  A function to mark the occasion was organized by Eco Task Force Project, Jammu Division of J&K Forest Department and 129 Infantry Battalion TA Ecological JAK LI.
Sapling of various local species were planted by the forest staff of Eco Task Force Project Jammu, Army officers, school children and other local people.
Conservator of Forests  East circle Jammu, B.M. Sharma was chief guest on the occasion. He stressed for the involvement of local population in plantation activities.  He also laid stress for the environmental education to the school children and to organize more and more such programmes to increase awareness among the local people.
It is pertinent to mention here that 1,00,000 sapplings have been planted by Eco Task Force Project Jammu in this monsoon season in Purmandal and Surinsar area.
Others present on the occassion included DFO  Eco Task Force Project  Jammu  Abinav Ramyotra, Commanding Officer 129 Inf Bn TA  Col. U.S. Rathore,  Captain Shekhawat,  Range Officer ETF I  Dildar Singh, Range Officer ETF-II Manoj Puri, JCO Kulwant Singh & Principal and staff of Govt. Middle School Chargwali.
