DODA, Sept 2: The protest by the students of Government Degree College (GDC) regarding shortage of staff entered second day here today.
The students assembled outside DC Office and raised slogans against District Administration, Jammu University authorities and Education Minister. They also blocked the vehicular movement for several hours.
The protesters criticized the Administration of Higher Education Department for its step-motherly treatment towards GDC students.
“The college is working with a mere staff of 7 professors. Majority of contractual staff are working in the college without their joining orders”, the protesters said.
They added that the students are suffering badly as the exams of first semester are in November.
In GDC, there is no lecturer for Botany, Mathematics, Persian, Education, Urdu, History and Computer Application subjects, they stated.
The protestors demanded filling-up of vacant posts of lecturers at the earliest otherwise they will continue their protest.
